A Story in
Every Detail
Working with returning author Laine Watson, I developed an illustrated visual direction for an expanding collection of contemporary romance novels, beginning with Grumpy Fake Boyfriend and Bad Boy Fake Boyfriend.
Using character descriptions, story references and creative direction provided by the author, I established an illustration style that gives each book its own personality while maintaining visual continuity across the collection.

From Concept
to Character
Character development plays a central role in bringing the stories to life.
Beginning with an original sketch, I refined the character through vector line art in Adobe Illustrator before developing the finished full-color illustration. Each stage builds on the previous one, establishing the character's features, proportions and personality.

From Illustration to Published Cover
The original character illustrations became the foundation for complete cover designs across ebook, paperback and hardcover formats.
Working with the author's selected color palette and fonts, I developed the cover compositions, title treatments and publishing layouts, adapting each design to the requirements of its format while maintaining a consistent visual identity.
An Expanding Illustrated World
Beyond the finished covers, I created supporting character and series assets for use across the author's broader promotional ecosystem. These assets provided the social media team with a consistent visual toolkit for developing promotional content.
The ongoing collaboration continues to expand as new stories and characters are introduced.
